For more information on the theory and circuit design, please see the wiki.Ĭredits: As mentioned previously, I completed this project with fellow ENGR 357 student, Konrad McClure. I worked with Konrad McClure to build the combinational logic circuit. This project was created in partial fulfillments of ENGR 354 "Digital Logic" at Walla Walla University. Introduction: This repository covers the design of simulates the sequential tail light operation of the 1966 Ford Thunderbird using 74HC74 logic. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me.1966 Ford Thunderbird Tail Lights Control These pictures will be used to update the instructions. I've asked him to send me some pictures of his progress. I have a customer who is currently performing this conversion. The existing tail light harness (orange/blue and green/orange) wires are tapped into and spliced onto the matching pigtail wires provided in the kit. The sequential control unit can be mounted vertically, on the rear tail light panel near the trunk latch support bracket. BTW: I recommend using LEDs for this conversion as they are brighter and use much less current. On cars equipped with a emergency flasher system, this flasher (located behind the passenger kick panel should be replaced with an electronic flasher, D0WY-13350-L. It uses a ground wire that must be attached to the body. The OEM flasher needs to be replaced with the electronic unit provided in the kit. Another path to the trunk is along the original harness which runs under the console/carpet and under the rear seat. Routing this wire requires removing the door sill plate, kick panel, rear panel and the rear seat. These wires can be run over to the driver's kick panel and run under the door sill plate, under the rear quarter window and into the trunk to the control unit. Since 1981 Cougars Unlimited has been the source for the electronic sequencers used to replace the outdated and failure-prone mechanical motor driven turn signal sequencers. All aspects of the manufacturing process from design to testing are overseen by an electronic engineer with over 25 years of experience as a result these units the most robust and reliable units on the market.Ĭougars Unlimited manufactures turn signal systems for 1965-1971 Thunderbirds. Extensive research has been put into the choosing of proper connectors, gauge of wires, industrial grade connectors and electronic components.
